A.L. Penniman papers

A.L. Penniman was a mechanical engineer who worked for Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE). The papers dates from the 1950s-1960s and include information on sitings for power plants, talks Penniman gave, and his membership in The American Society of Mechanical Engineers and on the Maryland Board of Boiler Rules. Collection consists of a series of lectures presented by Professor Albert Lanphier Hammond at Hopkins during the spring semester, 1961. The subject of Hammond's lectures was the Theory of Knowledge. The lectures have been transcribed from tape and are available in the typescript. The original tape is included in the collection, but two of the twelve lectures are not available in typescript.

Alinda B. Couper papers

Alinda Burnham Couper studied harmonic analysis with Nadia Boulanger and taught and composed music, becoming one of the pioneer composers of handbell music and developing a new technique called "four-in-hand." Couper remained friends with Boulanger and exchanged letters for years after studying with her. The Alinda B. Couper papers contain manuscripts and published scores composed by Couper, as well as her notes, composition journals, papers, and photos.
